| Ensemble Simul is a recorder group that began in 2019, bringing together students who were interested in playing a different repertoire. The name of the group was chosen by the participants themselves, and it originates from the Latin “SIMUL” – at the same time, simultaneously, that is, to play together. |

| Ensemble Simul has already performed on many occasions, such as symposiums, concerts, and different meetings, looking for an expressive performance and including body movements to emphasize some musical aspects. |

| After the pandemic and several other events, it now resumes its regular activities in 2023, with 11 participants (7 students and 4 teachers). |

| In May 2023, Ensemble Simul made a video to participate in the Boston Early Music Festival, in the Recorders Beyond Borders Program, following an invitation from American professors. This year the theme of the Festival in Boston will be “A Celebration of Women”, to honor the work of women musicians, poets, artists, etc., remembering the role of women in the history of classical music. Representing Brazil, Ensemble Simul, together with Grupo Som Doce da Grota, from Rio de Janeiro, plays an arrangement specially made for this occasion by PatrĂcia Michelini, which united two composers – Barbara Strozzi, from the Middle Ages, and our very Brazilian Chiquinha Gonzaga, extraordinary women for their times. The name of the piece is “When Barbara finds Chiquinha – Priego ad Amore – Amor” and it was a great challenge for the group to rehearse and record. The premiere took place in a live performance during the meeting of the Boston Early Music Festival, on June 11, 2023. Wait for more information on our social media. |
