Dorcas is like a day hospital that takes care of children and teenagers, with bodies, minds and souls.
It provides care for nutrition, health, education, values, feelings and emotions.
Dorcas provides well-being with physical and emotional security.
It helps to release their wings so that they have freedom and may dream again.

First News!

A big news for 2023 is that Dorcas is serving 320 children and teenagers, 220 of which at the head office, on Rodovia dos Minérios, and 100 in the Cachoeira neighborhood.

The expansion took place in a planned manner and these are some factors that contributed to this decision:

Children and teenagers from the Cachoeira neighborhood find it difficult to come to Dorcas because there is no transport, which is needed due to the long distance;
There are no more vacancies at the Dorcas headquarters, due to the total occupation of the available space.

We serve children and teenagers in spaces provided by the Youth Center and the Adventist Church in the Cachoeira neighborhood.

In these places we provide music initiation classes, choral singing, flute and guitar classes, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.

Second News!

We began to serve children from 4 years old, with the prerequisite of being enrolled in the municipal education network.

We know that the sooner they come to Dorcas, the more opportunities there will be for them to be fully stimulated, thus improving their cognitive, psychomotor and behavioral development.

Revitalized Spaces

We carried out some reforms, such as painting, opening doors and windows for better ventilation, new spaces and adaptations in the rooms.

The objective is to make them more welcoming for children and teenagers already enrolled and especially for the 90 children who have been waiting for a year for their vacancies, since 2022.

Team Formation

With the increase in children there was, consequently, an increase in the team with 7 more employees.

Today Dorcas has a team of 50 people, including employees, volunteers and monitors.

As Dorcas aims to add Christian values, we also had a moment to talk about spirituality, conducted by Sileda and Valdir Steuernagel

At the beginning of February we had our pedagogical week, in which we worked on Dorcas' methodology and processes, together with training for new employees, so that there is integration and synergy with the entire team.

The subject of spirituality will take place in the monthly meetings of employees, volunteers and monitors, so that there is a connection with the Dorcas team in relation to the work with children and teenagers.
