Partnership Almirante Tamandaré Youth Center

For 25 years the Dorcas Project has impacted children and teenagers, transforming lives.

Big changes happened in 2010, when we stopped being charitable and took on an educational character.

This means that the transformation happens because there is a two-way street, with 27 collaborators and 23 dedicated and committed volunteers.

Since then the project has grown, and today 180 children and teenagers are being served. Around 19 activities are offered every week and we have no more room for others to join the project!

The choir, with its 30 members, has suffered the most, because the room is too small for rehearsals.

Because of all that, we partnered with the Youth Center in Almirante Tamandaré, where an auditorium was made available by coordinator Kleber Costa.

We started the rehearsals on April 6th, on Wednesdays and Fridays. The children and teenagers are transported by a van from Dorcas and another one offered by the Youth Center.

Pedagogical Stroll: Tupã Park

On April 5th we had a Pedagogical Stroll to Tupã Park with the G4 teenagers group (14 to 18 years old).

The 15 free tickets were obtained through the Capoeira Project. The teenagers had a lot of fun at the park's attractions, and also participated in the capoeira circle with other groups!

Denarius Bazaar

On April 11 we had the first Denarius Bazaar* of 2022.

* The Denarius Bazaar is a space for financial education, where children and teenagers can purchase things using their Denarii (our currency here at Dorcas).

The children were able to participate in the bazaar, buying toys, books, chocolates, hygiene products, clothes, shoes, and many other things.

This is the power of choice, which generates autonomy, fulfills dreams, educates financially... transformation!

Easter at Dorcas

Easter: Jesus' love sets us free! Remembering the sacrificial love of Jesus, together with the children and teenagers from Dorcas, was something very special. During two weeks, in our devotional time, we prepared ourselves by remembering the origin of Easter, from the liberation of the Hebrew people from slavery in Egypt to the moment when Jesus meets with his disciples to celebrate it.

We experienced this moment of the Holly supper, with cheese bread and grape juice, distributed to everyone who felt comfortable to participate, remembering the sacrifice of Jesus that freed us to have a completely new life.

Through the supper, we could remember that the love of Jesus frees us from the weight of sin, and thus "we can be friends with God again, right teacher?!", as the children remembered the story of Adam and Eve.

The children got lots of chocolate, donated by our partner companies PWCand OneTech. We thank the employees and management of the companies for their generosity. We also thank a group of students from Unibrasil who organized a campaign to collect chocolates for Dorcas.

Scouts Camp

The Dorcas Scout Group had a wonderful camp during the weekend of April 30th and May 1st.

In these 2 days, 30 young people and 9 adults participated in moments of learning, running, reflection and communion.

We thank the Dorcas family and Mission Alliance that support us in every moment. We are grateful to God for the blessings and deliverances and to everyone involved!

For us to continue and expand this Mission we need more volunteers!

Visit to the
Oscar Niemeyer Museum

Inventor, artist, scientist, engineer, architect, musician... Leonardo da Vinci was a genius in every sense of the word. To celebrate his 500th birthday the Oscar Niemeyer Museum presented an exhibition about his work.

We took the young people who attend the Dorcas Robotics Workshop to the museum, to see how Leonardo da Vinci saw the problems of his time and proposed solutions.

In the machine room the group found some machines thought up by the inventor: the parachute, the steering wheel, the bicycle, the war tank.
